Six kinds of offer, set up for each market.
Create percentage and fixed-amount discounts, Buy X Get Y offers, bundles, free gifts and tiered savings. Choose what they cover and who gets them, use a code or let them apply on their own, and decide how they combine.
Pick the offer. The form follows.
Every discount starts with its type. Store Admin then shows only the sections and fields that type uses: a Buy X Get Y offer has no Targeting section because its Buy and Get items already say what it applies to, and a tiered discount always covers the entire order.
Free delivery isn’t a discount type: it’s set on the market’s shipping methods.
- Percentage
- More than 0 and up to 100%, with up to two decimal places. Add a Maximum Discount to cap the saving.
- Fixed amount
- Enter the amount in your base currency, with optional amounts for the market’s other currencies. Currencies left empty are converted from the base amount.
- Buy X Get Y
- Buy and Get items can be simple products, exact variants, collections or categories. Rewards are free, a percentage off or an amount off, and always the cheapest qualifying items.
- Bundle
- Two to 20 components, each with a quantity, priced as a fixed set price or a percentage off each complete set. Optionally cap the sets per order.
- Free gift
- One to 10 products marked gift only. Add the gift to the cart automatically when the order qualifies, or let the shopper claim it.
- Tiered
- One to 10 subtotal thresholds that all take a percentage or all take an amount off. Only the highest tier the order reaches applies.
Decide what it covers and who can use it.
Aim percentage, fixed-amount and free gift discounts at the entire order or at specific products, variants, collections or categories. Then set minimums, choose who qualifies and limit how often a discount can be used.
- Products or exact variants
- A whole product includes all its current and future variants; pick exact variants to target only those. Percentage and fixed-amount discounts can also exclude items already on sale.
- Minimums and caps
- Every type accepts a Minimum Subtotal. Percentage, fixed-amount and free gift discounts accept a Minimum Quantity; percentage, bundle and tiered discounts a Maximum Discount.
- Everyone, or chosen customers
- Offer a discount to everyone, to specific customers or to customer groups. Specific customers and groups apply when the shopper is signed in.
- First order only
- Keep a discount for a shopper’s first order. Earlier paid, cash-on-delivery or refunded orders disqualify; test and cancelled orders don’t count.
- Usage limits
- Set a Total Usage Limit, a Per Customer Limit or both. A use is held while a checkout waits for payment and given back if the checkout expires or the order is cancelled.
- Uses back on refund
- Turn on Give the use back on a full refund to return the use when every item the discount reduced, or the whole order, is refunded.
Codes, automatic offers, and how they combine.
A coupon applies when the shopper enters its code; an automatic discount applies by itself when the order qualifies. Each market’s Discount Settings decide whether one discount or several apply, how they’re ranked and how many codes an order can take.
- Coupon codes
- Letters A to Z, numbers, hyphens and underscores, up to 50 characters. Codes are unique in the market and letter case doesn’t matter. Select Generate for a random code.
- Show in cart
- Let the cart suggest a coupon before the shopper enters it, or leave it off for targeted or private campaigns.
- Best for customer or manual
- Rank discounts by how much each one saves on its own, or by the priority number on each discount, lowest first. No two discounts in a market share a priority.
- Coupons per order
- With stacking allowed, an order can take up to five codes, as you set. Automatic discounts don’t count toward the limit.
- Applied in order
- Buy X Get Y, bundle and gift offers apply first, then discounts on selected products, then order-wide discounts, each on the amount the earlier ones left.
- Quantity-priced items
- Items with quantity pricing are left out of discounts by default. Turn on Discounts on quantity-priced items to discount them too.
Each market keeps its own discounts.
Discounts sit on the market’s Discounts tab, next to its countries, pricing, tax and shipping. Search by name or code, filter and sort, and enable, disable or delete discounts one at a time or in bulk.
- Status follows the dates
- A discount is Scheduled before its start, Active between its dates and Expired after its end. Disabled is the only status you set, and it stays off until you enable it.
- Start and end in store time
- Set when a discount starts and, optionally, when it ends, in your store’s time zone. Leave the end empty for no end date.
- Bulk changes
- Select up to 100 discounts on a page to enable, disable or delete them together. Each one is changed separately, so one failure doesn’t undo the others.
- Placed orders stay as they were
- Editing, disabling or deleting a discount, or changing the market’s settings, doesn’t change orders already placed.
- Before tax
- Discounts come off merchandise before tax and duties, and tax is worked out on the discounted prices. A discount never takes merchandise below zero.
- Web, app and Store API
- Manage discounts in Store Admin or the Tringify app, and from your own apps through the Store API.
