About this update

First version: how Tringify promotional credit works, what it pays for, expiry and limits.

Tringify Promotional Credit Terms

These terms apply to promotional credit that Tringify adds to a store's billing account. They form part of the Tringify Terms of Service and the Store Agreement, which continue to apply. Where these terms and those documents differ about promotional credit, these terms apply.

1. What promotional credit is

Promotional credit is an amount Tringify adds to a store's billing account, at its own discretion, to reduce that store's future Tringify charges. We may offer it as part of a promotion, a launch or migration offer, a goodwill gesture or another arrangement. It appears in Billing as "Promotional credit".

Promotional credit is different from paid credit you buy as a top-up and from credit notes Tringify issues to you. These terms do not apply to paid credit or credit notes, except where section 6 explains the order in which they are used. Promotional credit is also unrelated to AI, email and translation credits or allowances.

No one is entitled to promotional credit. Any amount, eligibility condition or end date that applies to a particular offer is stated when we make the offer. Each grant is recorded with its amount, issue date, expiry date and the reason it was given.

2. Which store can use it

Promotional credit belongs to the one store whose billing account received it and can be used only for that store's charges. It cannot be moved, shared or combined with another store, including another store with the same owner. It cannot be sold, assigned, transferred or exchanged for anything else. If ownership of the store changes, the credit stays with the store's billing account.

3. Currency

Promotional credit is issued in the store's billing currency and is used only for charges in that currency. It is never converted into another currency.

4. What promotional credit pays for

Promotional credit is used automatically for the charges on the store's Tringify billing invoices and statements. This includes:

  • plan charges, including the first plan charge and charges for a plan change;
  • app subscription and app usage charges that are billed on your Tringify statement, including charges for third-party apps billed through Tringify;
  • Tringify Checkout fees; and
  • prorations and other charges listed on the statement.

Promotional credit is not used for:

  • taxes (see section 5);
  • account credit top-ups;
  • purchases paid at checkout outside a statement, such as AI, email and translation credit packs; or
  • amounts you pay to anyone other than Tringify.

You cannot choose to keep promotional credit for later or choose which charges it covers. It is applied to each invoice or statement when Tringify issues it, for as long as an unexpired balance remains.

5. Taxes

Promotional credit reduces the price of the charges before tax. Tax is calculated on the amount that remains after promotional credit is applied, so promotional credit never pays tax. When an invoice or statement has several charges, the credit is spread across them in proportion to their amounts. Each invoice or statement shows the promotional credit applied to each charge, the taxable amount and the tax.

6. Order of use

When Tringify issues an invoice or statement:

  1. Promotional credit is applied first, before tax. If the store has more than one grant, the grant that expires soonest is used first. Grants with the same expiry are used in the order they were issued.
  2. The remaining total, including tax, is then paid from credit notes, oldest first, and then from paid credit, oldest first.
  3. Anything still due is collected from the store's payment method, AutoPay or payment link.

7. Expiry

Each grant of promotional credit expires 12 months after it is issued, at the same date and time. Any part of the grant that has not been used by then is removed. Expired credit cannot be restored or extended, and it does not apply to an invoice or statement issued after the expiry time.

The expiry date of a grant does not change if you change plan or if these terms change.

8. Repeating grants

Tringify may set up a grant to repeat once a year until an end date that is more than 12 months after the first grant. Each repeat is a separate grant issued on the anniversary of the previous one, with its own 12-month expiry. Unused credit from one grant does not carry over to the next.

If less than a full year remains before the end date, the last grant is reduced to the number of whole months remaining, as a share of 12. No grant is issued if less than one whole month remains. Tringify may stop a repeating grant at any time. Grants already issued are not affected and remain usable until they expire or are revoked.

9. Cancelled or corrected invoices

If an invoice that used promotional credit is cancelled, for example when a plan checkout is abandoned, the promotional credit it used is returned to the grants it came from. If a charge on an invoice is corrected, the promotional credit used for the corrected part is returned in the same way. Returned credit keeps its grant's original expiry date and cannot be used after a grant has expired or been revoked.

10. No cash value

Promotional credit has no cash value. It cannot be withdrawn, paid out, refunded or exchanged for money, including when a store is closed or an account is deleted. Refunds in Billing apply only to paid credit.

11. Revocation

Tringify may revoke a store's unused promotional credit at any time, including where we reasonably believe that:

  • the credit was obtained through fraud, misrepresentation or abuse, such as creating stores or accounts to collect credit;
  • the store or account breaches the Terms of Service, the Acceptable Use Policy or the Store Agreement;
  • the credit was issued in error or does not meet the conditions of the offer; or
  • the store has been closed or deleted.

Revocation removes the unused balance of the grant immediately. Credit already applied to an issued invoice or statement stays applied. If you would like us to remove promotional credit from your store, contact Tringify Support.

12. Closed stores

If a store is closed, its unused promotional credit is still applied to the store's final invoices and statements. It is not paid out. It continues to expire on its expiry date, and Tringify may revoke it under section 11. If a closed store is reopened, any promotional credit that has not expired or been revoked is available again.

13. Seeing your balance

The store owner can see promotional credit in Billing › Account credit, including:

  • the total promotional credit balance and the next expiry date;
  • each grant, with its issue date, expiry date, original amount and remaining amount; and
  • a history of credit issued, applied (with the invoice number), expired, revoked and returned.

Each invoice and statement shows the promotional credit applied to it. Amounts are shown in the store's billing currency.

14. Changes to these terms

Tringify may change these terms by publishing a new version on this page. Each version shows its version number and effective date, which is at least two days after it is published, and earlier versions remain available. A change does not shorten the expiry date or reduce the remaining balance of promotional credit already issued. Tringify may end any promotion, or stop issuing promotional credit, at any time.

15. Questions

If you have a question about these terms or about promotional credit on your store, contact Tringify Support from your store admin or write to legal@tringify.com.
